LAST LIQUID UP-DOSE!!!!!

I cannot believe that today is finally his LAST liquid updose! When we told Coby, "if all goes well, this is your last Thursday of the liquid dosing!", Coby replied, "Good! I want to get this thing moving!" Haha!

Today's nerves were a bit more than my usual up-dose nerves because it was such a HUGE jump- from 50mg to 100mg.
We spent the last NINE weeks updosing from 1mg to 50mg, yet in just one day we did a jump of 50mg all at once. I don't get it, but gotta trust in the doctor who follows a very successful protocol. Coby said, "Mom, it's because my body is getting used to peanut!" Here's hoping little one, here's hoping. After all that is a HUGE jump!

This was another relatively boring home dosing week. Yay! We love boring when it comes to OIT!
And Coby is really getting in to this 'peanuts' thing.

During today's up-dose we had a bit of a scare that he was beginning to have a full reaction.
Coby's final liquid up-dose!
After a few minutes he started scratching at his arm and complaining about itchiness. I snapped a pic when I thought I started to see a hive or two appear and we called in the nurse. Coby informed her that his lips were itching too. I felt my heart drop out of me. She called in the doctor who checked him out and listened to him breathe. His lungs were completely clear. Pheeeew. She said we'll continue watching him but it's possible this is just his sensitive skin reacting to the heat in the room. It was extremely warm in that room. The rest of the hour I watched him like a hawk.

When the hour was up and she checked him out again, she said he passed!!!! Thank G-d. I was really nervous something bad was about to happen. But he did it!!! Nothing will stop my boy!

Out of curiosity I asked the doctor that if OIT works- if he'd be allowed to ride on a school bus. Until now his doctor had said he would not be able to ride a school bus to school since kids eat who knows what on it- and the only adult on the bus is the bus driver. There would be no one there who could watch out for him. But she told me at the end of this Coby WOULD be able to ride that school bus. "This is why you do OIT. You don't even realize yet how life changing this will be." Oh my goodness. We've been living like this for six years now- I cannot even imagine!

And if all goes well, today was Coby's FINAL Thursday of dosing with liquid. Next Thursday he'd be moving on to peanut powder! He will not be up-dosing next week since for some reason whenever you switch the form of peanut, the body is more likely to have a reaction. By keeping the dose at the same level we are hoping his body realizes he is already used to this level, and it is just in a different form. But of course I'll be a nervous wreck come next Thursday ;)! Meanwhile I am just sooooo thrilled today went well when I was really scared it was spiraling downward.
My boy just ate 1/3rd of a peanut!!!!

Praying for an uneventful week of our final week of liquid dosing! Davening for a safe Purim and IYH next year Coby will be able to fully enjoy this holiday without fear and sadness of what is lurking in the shalach manot that come our way. Looking forward to the world of color that will be opening up to us at the end of this journey. He's come such a long way! Keep at it kiddo!!!! So proud of him!!!!
